The Landing: Social Design, Discovery and Sharing All in One Place

The home furnishing space has been lagging compared to other sectors in terms of shifting from offline to online sales. However this has transformed during the pandemic. Home furniture and furnishings experienced the strongest growth of any sector compared to 2019, up 16.2%, and it grew 31.0% online specifically. In addition, home improvement was up 14.1%, with e-commerce sales up 79.7%.

The existing discovery, design, sharing and purchase experience for home furnishings is complicated and involves several platforms. Consumers are using Pinterest and Instagram for discovery, Figma, Canva and Powerpoint for design, Whatsapp and Tik Tok for sharing, and Wayfair and Amazon for purchase. We need better tools and a better user experience for online purchasing – both in the home furnishing sector and beyond.

eCommerce is going through a generational progression towards social commerce, where social interactions and creator contributions assist the buying and selling of products and services. Launched last year as a design platform focused on the home furnishing space, today, The Landing has expanded bring all of this together - creators are able to design interactive, shoppable, and inspiring moodboards that are product-centered.

Ellie, Miri and Greg make a great team of design, operations and engineering. Ellie is the daughter of an architect and designer, and previously worked at interior design company Modsy. Miri is from London and has moved 20 times and relied on texting her design-y friends for help. Greg codes, builds furniture in his spare time and was tackling interior design challenges at Airbnb Plus. We are super excited to back this team to build the go to platform for product-centered social commerce. You can start designing today at www.thelanding.app.
