Omeda Studios: A Next Generation Gaming Studio

In 2016, Epic Games released a MOBA (multiplayer online battle arena) called Paragon. But with Fortnite’s massive success, Epic’s resources allocated away resources from Paragon, and eventually the game was canceled. Streamer and influencer Robbie Singh, who had a following of 50,000 people watching his streams about Paragon, was especially affected by the void. After Epic shut down the game, it made Paragon’s assets available to other developers in July 2018. Robbie decided to revive the essence of Paragon, and started Omeda Studios to create their own vision of this cross-platform MOBA, called Predecessor.

We are excited to announce we are partnering with Robbie and Omeda Studios. The studio’s first title, Predecessor, is a cross-platform MOBA that has already amassed more than 35,000 fans on Discord and over 100,000 sign-ups prior to its beta release.

There is a clear shift towards next-gen console/mobile-driven gaming, especially for these gameplay styles which are traditionally desktop/laptop-centric. Also, the casualization of several genres drives wider adoption outside core gamers. Predecessor’s gameplay lends itself to these growing trends and combines them with a first-mover advantage in terms of accessing and utilizing Epic’s open-source content. Predecessor offers faster gameplay than traditional MOBAs, and combines battle royale game design and mechanics with a third person shooter perspective, resulting in a fresh take on the MOBA genre.  At Progression, we believe Omeda’s opportunity is massive, and its games will open up a larger MOBA audience that appeals to fans of both battle royale and third person shooters, and cross platform play. Also, we believe new social platforms will form within video games.

Robbie is a known streamer with 70,000 followers and had been working in the games industry for quite some time. When he reached out to us, it was surprising to see that Predecessor had been this far along with thousands of community members already, and Robbie had been building this all on his spare time, with no prior funding, which truly exhibited his dedication and heart to bring this new type of gameplay to the masses.
