Wellnest World: A Digital Garden of Your Life

Being the first generation in my family to play with consoles and computers at a young age, it was natural for me to be fascinated by gaming. The first console I owned was the Nintendo Family System and I spent countless hours playing platform games such as Mario. In the 90s, I got my first desktop computer. Armed with a Nvidia Riva128 my attention shifted towards keyboard and mouse first person shooters such as Quake. During my college years in the early 2000s, I spent countless nights running dungeons with my guild in World of Warcraft. I dabbled with League of Legends and Dota, but never really got into it. Most recently, my wife and I have been playing couch co-op games on the Switch and Honor of Kings on mobile. In a short matter of time, gaming has evolved from a console that sits on the floor of the living room, to our desktop, into our hands and perhaps into a mixed virtual and physical state.

Gaming is now the fastest growing entertainment vertical, surpassing movies and music. Gen Z and Gen Alpha are growing up as mobile digital natives and use the metaverse as a destination to be social. Gaming is also blending into the user behaviors in other sectors. For example, musical.ly & Tik Tok’s swipe down interaction mimics that of a casino slot machine, each swipe leads to a shot of dopamine powered by its recommendation engine. Robinhood has gamified the investment process and made it so simple that anyone can trade on the stock market. Akili is building games that are digital therapeutics to treat ADHD.

Besides infrastructure, game studios, monetization and eSports, we believe gaming is impacting many other sectors.

Besides infrastructure, game studios, monetization and eSports, we believe gaming is impacting many other sectors.

We believe that gaming and game interactions will have a big part to play in interaction design of products in other sectors. In particular gaming has a major part to play in selfcare and wellness. Gaming provides an immersive, personalized and sharable experience that is the perfect user interaction for the next generation of selfcare products targeted at Gen Z and Gen Alpha. We are excited to lead Wellnest World’s pre-seed round and partner with awesome co-founders Tommy, Mars, Drew and Jack. They are building a digital world that reflects your inner world - a digital garden of your life, where you can reflect and capture the moments that matter, and plant them in a world of your own. The spatial experience makes selfcare more immersive, personalized and social. Join the beta here.
